"Together we build"

Under this slogan and for the second year in a row, the Friends of the Official School in Metn Association honored the students who had the first three ranks in the Primary and sSecondary diplomas - the first session of the academic year 2017/2018 in public schools in the district of Metn, and this year was also honored. Principals of both Al-Metn Vocational Schools and Beit Chabeb Vocational School.

The CEO of the association Mrs. Raghda Kaworkian spoke on the occasion and presented all the achievements and explained the needs and touched on the demands that the association is following with the responsible references. Then Father Louis Al-Khawand spoke also, calling for the development of the public sector and urging students to adhere to standards of integrity, justice, humility, frankness, free service, fighting corruption, avoiding pests and seeing them. The bright and prosperous Lebanon project advised them to love and loyalty to the homeland and support the citizens without discrimination in the event that they receive official or private assignments.

Dr. Vera Zaitouni represented the Minister of Education and Higher Education had a guiding speech in which she touched upon the hopes and aspirations that the ministry is working to achieve after the restoration and equipping of most of the public schools with the action of international aid.

Deputy Elias Hanakish represented the Lebanese Kataeb Party and promised that it would present draft laws to support the official educational sector.

Deputy Adi Maalouf, represented  Attayar Party said that he would endeavor with the Strong Lebanon Bloc to present projects to develop the educational sector and move it to the better.

Deputy Hagop Pakradounian represented the Tashnak Party demanded that the state provide quality and quality in public school programs to compete with private schools. State ownership of official buildings is mandatory, and he indicated that, according to the statistics of the Association of Public School Friends  in Metn, the state pays approximately seven billion Lebanese pounds in rent fees for the 45 schools in the district. Modern foundations in the development of programs and the use of technology, which allows the student to keep pace with globalization. The statistics of the association documented in the Ministrys Registry in 2015 indicate that the average age of teachers in the official sector in the judiciary is 55 years, and this age does not complement the mentality of the student today.

Engineer George Abu Joudeh represented "The Lebanese Forces" Party, and the engineer Jean Abu Joudeh participated in the honoring ceremony. Lawyer Joseph Karam also participated for Attayar Party. The participation of mayors in honoring the students of their towns had a distinctive effect, and the conference hall in the municipality of El Jadida was filled with activities, school directors, presidents of School Parents' committees, and teachers and educational bodies concerned in the award ceremony.

- The former director, George Haddad, was also honored for his services and integrity in the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.

Contributions, statute of limitations and cultural activities:

The association contributed to securing a set of supplies and logistical needs for schools, including:

  1. Ceiling fans for all schools, before the official certification exams for the 2014 cycle. 2015.

  2. Provide White Board, desks, chairs, photocopiers, printers, LCDs, heaters, and carry out maintenance works for infrastructure, rehabilitate potable water networks, and health homes.

  3. Securing a chain of aid to cover some of the necessary supplies

It held also a series of competitions, including:

Alignment with civil society associations

A training course for teachers that took a month and a half on all Metn schools, in collaboration with the Saint Joseph University, as part of the USJ MENTOR UNIT project entitled "The Dangers of Misuse of Social Media on the Internet - ASIE". This course included 61 schools from Al-Matn and abroad, and 170 professors participated in it.
